(R)egistered Receipt® Email Record

The Registered Email™ receipt is the resulting evidentiary record returned to the sender with delivery proof, content proof, and an official timestamp when Registered Email™ message is sent. It irrefutably authenticates who said what to whom and when, by email.

The (R)egistered Receipt® email is sent when the sender sends a Registered Email message. It includes the underlying Internet forensics (server-level delivery audit trail, IP addresses, official uniform times), and uses mathematical methods and cryptography to associate the message content and attachments (back and forth) with the Internet forensics. This provides non-repudiation of delivery and non-repudiation of replies or signatures depending on the service selected. The Registered Receipt can be independently (third-party) authenticated at any time and if validated, will reconstruct the electronic originals – original message text, attachments, and Internet forensic records, all in native format.

This record is portable so that, in a dispute resolution situation, the Receipt can be forwarded by email to any opposing party, counsel, arbitrator, mediator or judicial officer, and that party can, independently of any cooperation or complexity, simply forward the Receipt to the Registered Email service verification email address to have the Receipt authenticated with original content returned to the party requesting authentication.

This record is durable so that, even if forwarded by email, saved as a file, retained in a message archive, or imported into a CRM system or database, in a dispute resolution situation the Receipt can be authenticated anywhere by simply emailing it to the verification address. If validated, the Receipt reconstructs the original message content, attachments, timestamps, and forensic delivery audit trail.

  • (R)egistered Receipt® Record: You’ll receive a (R)egistered Receipt® record with every email sent, telling you the delivery status, time of delivery, and exact message content. This serves as court-admissible certified proof of delivery and contains options to authenticate and reproduce the original message. Every Registered Receipt record contains a complete SMTP delivery audit trail — forensic proof of message delivery, delivery time, and other delivery characteristics.
  • Self-Authenticating Receipt. The (R)egistered Receipt® e-mail authenticates and accurately reproduces the original e-mail and attachments, including any attached disclosures, which satisfies the eSign Act’s retention and accurate reproduction requirements, EIDAS requirements, and other country and regulatory proof of delivery and proof of receipt requirements.
  • Authenticatable Transaction Record. The returned (R)egistered Receipt® is a durable, verifiable, and self-contained record of each electronic message transaction. This receipt includes an HTML and XML file, and the service includes a variety of reports, each with transmission data that may be extracted and imported into the sender’s systems. This receipt’s HTML file may be used by any party to authenticate the transmission data and reconstruct the original email content – without the Registered Email system storing a copy of the message or transmission data. Message status data and the Registered Receipt transaction proof records may be retrieved, all automated using email or APIs.
