Counter Insider Threats & Content Leaks: Protect Against Cybercriminals' Unexpected Access

First holiday party, no risk. Second party, some risk. Third-party risk (oh hohoho no!).

Armand here, RPost’s very proud product evangelist armadillo. Why am I so proud? I was up in Silicon Valley this week at Aragon Research’s annual gala, where RPost was named 2024 Innovation of the Year for Content Security. (Read News item here)

Importantly, why might you care?

First, many security gurus in organizations are hyper focused on first-party risk (no, not your first holiday party). Meaning, protecting outsiders from targeting your staff on inbound email (for example). And perhaps second-party risk (your staff sending messages to others inside your organization).

But only RPost protects you from this new vector that cybercriminals have exposed. Third parties that are compromised often don’t have the level of security or care for your content that you have, and YOUR content gets exposed in THEIR email or file systems --- those vendors, suppliers, clients that are outside of your secure perimeter.

You should care about this RPost innovation because it tackles an open risk that your other security systems don’t consider. Third party risk is a big issue right now, when it comes to leaks that provide cybercriminals contextual content to power-up their GenAI infused financial crime.

This Aragon Research Innovation Award recognized RPost's infusion of AI into its cybersecurity technologies to provide a unique way in the marketplace to see and counter insider threats, leaks, and cybercriminals interacting with an organization’s content in unexpected ways, even if this anomalous activity on one’s content is occurring outside of one’s network perimeter at third party suppliers or client devices.

This innovation is part of the RPost Intelligence™ initiative, which ties RPost products together with these underlying intelligent AI tools. Central is RPost’s core Eavesdropping™ AI that can detect when a cybercriminal or threat actor is actively eavesdropping on communications, transactions, or documents (a) in a compromised email account - internal or at a third-party, (b) being sent to an impersonator receiving replies to lookalike domain email, and/or (c) being sent from an insider that has either accidentally or maliciously leaked sensitive information.

Once the leak has been identified --- even if outside of one’s controlled network --- RPost’s AI Auto-Lock™ technologies then automatically ‘Un-Leak Leaks™’. ‘Un-leaking’ in this context means the leaked sensitive content is automatically locked when there is an attempted unexpected access.

If the leak is a document in a file directory or an attachment to an email, for example, RPost’s Doc-Lock™ AI component auto-locks the exfiltrated or compromised sensitive documents. Even better, RPost provides evidence that the leaked information was not seen by any human, thus there is no reportable breach since the information was successfully un-leaked and remote-control killed before seen.

From my humble armadillo perspective, this RPost innovation combines Threat Intelligence in one’s ecosystem of insider and external third-party collaborators with automated DLP data leak pre-emption technology. Simply put, it lets one see leaks or nefarious compromises in action even in systems far outside of one’s control where cybercriminals or state-sponsored eavesdroppers – think Salt Typhoon -- are actively looking at or manipulating your content (read – your intellectual property) in unexpected ways.

This means, there is a leak; you can see where the leak is and who it is associated with. Even better, once the leak is identified, RPost AI kicks in to remotely un-leak the leak, automatically. See the Unseen™ (leak), then automatically Un-leak Leaks™. Quite important, considering today’s cyber risks and threat profile.

This Aragon Research award recognizes providers leveraging visionary use of technology to not only adapt as markets change but to also actively disrupt and inform how their markets will evolve.

This 2024 Innovation Award builds on other recent accolades awarded to RPost by Aragon Research in the categories of Digital Transaction Management and Enterprise Content Management.
